SNF/NF survey tip—Appendix PP update

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services’ (CMS’) “
Revised Long-Term Care (LTC) Surveyor Guidance: Significant revisions to enhance quality and oversight of the LTC Survey Process” includes significant changes to guidance in Appendix PP related to the updated regulatory areas. The changes will take effect, and surveyors will begin using the revised guidance.
The effective date for implementation of new guidance is now March 24, 2025. We will keep you posted on additional updates.
AHCA will release Action Briefings related to the guidance updates. A new action briefing regarding
Pain Management has been posted to the
AHCA Survey Regulatory page for review and provides an outline of significant changes made and action items to achieve compliance in these areas. Prepare for your survey utilizing “Survey Tip-Preparing Before your Survey.”
