The Lifetime Achievement Award honors an individual for their years of service and commitment to our profession and to those we serve. Each year, the Board of Director’s chair selects a recipient of this prestigious award—and in 2022, Paula Rocheleau chose Sam Orbovich, attorney and shareholder at Fredrikson & Byron.
Paula selected Sam as the recipient of this award for his ongoing and continued commitment to the Association and its members. Sam continues to be a valuable resource, advocate, and friend to the Association and has been for many years. He has served as general counsel to many of Care Provider of Minnesota members who rely on his legal abilities and advice. He has represented skilled nursing facilities, assisted living communities, and other providers and vendors before state and federal courts, boards, and agencies.
Sam is active in our Association and has—or is still serving on many of our committees. He is a sought-after speaker and has presented as our annual convention, summit, and other education events. Last but certainly not least, Sam is a talented musician, and he and his band have performed at a few Association events.
Please take a minute to
hear from the award recipient himself—who has no plans on slowing down—plus a few others, as he reflects on receiving this award.
Note—although the Lifetime Achievement Award recipient is selected by the current board chair, our award program, as well as our national association, offers numerous award categories for you to submit a nomination. Look for the 2023 award program to kick off in March!
