How can we better assist our residents and our staff in caring for those who have hearing loss? What resources are there to help? Please join this free, member-only webinar to learn about an entire DHS department that exists just for this purpose and then join us at our April Assisted Living Summit for part 2 in person!

An introduction to the services DHS provides and how we can help. You will learn more about hearing loss, including who is affected by hearing loss, what can happen if hearing loss goes untreated, and how to recognize potential hearing loss. We will also share effective communication strategies, communication accommodations and various assistive technology and resources available for people with hearing loss.

As a Deaf and Hard of Hearing Specialist, Calla provides services, education and advocacy for communication access. Calla also provides information and referral, assistive technology demonstrations, and training and consultation to service providers. Calla’s office is in Rochester and serves 29 counties in Southern Minnesota. Calla has a master’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling for the Deaf. She previously worked as a vocational rehabilitation counselor and as a Deaf mentor and Language and Literacy Instructor for families with children who are deaf or hard of hearing.

Sharing information and resources related to hearing loss, assistive technology and advocacy, Kelly serves the 7-county Twin Cities metro area. Her professional career began as an educator and transitioned into the vocational rehabilitation field before becoming a Deaf and Hard of Hearing Specialist. Kelly has a master’s degree in psychology and enjoys broadening her understanding of the world via travel.
