Care Providers of Minnesota has collaborated with Relias to develop a comprehensive licensed assisted living director (LALD) education program. This program has been approved by the Minnesota Board of Executives for Long-Term Services and Supports (BELTSS) and meets the education requirements of Minnesota Rule Chapter 6400. Completion of the LALD program is one step toward earning an assisted living director license. LALD applicants may need to pass two exams—NAB, which is a national exam, and a Minnesota exam—and complete a mentorship. Complete details on LALD requirements and application may be found on the BELTSS website. The fees for the national and state exams are not included in the LALD program fee. View the supplemental ALD state examination bibliography here. Check out the LALD program flyer here. Please take 28 minutes to view the tutorial on how to become an LALD in Minnesota here! BELTSS provided two recordings, which can give you some insight on what it means to be a licensed professional under BELTSS and how to navigate the BELTSS website.
Mentorship Care Providers of Minnesota has created a directory of members who are licensed Assisted Living Directors (LALDs) or licensed Health Service Executives (HSEs) through BELTSS and are willing to be a mentor to someone in the process of getting their LALD. Other resources Care Providers of Minnesota resource—Minnesota Assisted Living License Regulations: a hard copy of assisted living statutes and regulations. A PDF file is included in the purchased program module list. National Association of Long-Term Care Administrator Board (NAB) - LALD applicants must take and pass two NAB exams: National Core of Knowledge Exam for Long Term Care Administrators (NAB Core) and the National Residential Care/Assisted Living Administrators Line of Service Exam (RCAL). Care Providers of Minnesota strongly recommends LALD applicants consider buying the NAB study guide and practice tests to increase the likelihood of passing success.
