Last week, voters in House District 52B went to the polls to vote in the special DFL primary election. This comes after former Representative Ruth Richardson stepped down from her position as she is currently the CEO of Planned Parenthood North Central States. Four DFL candidates were running to fill her seat, Jay Miller, Chris Whitfield, Cynthia Callais, and Bianca Virnig. Virnig won the primary and will challenge Republican Cynthia Lonnquist and Libertarian Charles Kuchlenz in a December 5th special election to ultimately decide who will hold the seat in 52B. The winner of the special election will be seated when the Legislature convenes in February.  Below are the results of the primary:
  • Jay Miller: 721 votes, 36.69%
  • Chris Whitfield: 87 votes, 4.43%
  • Cynthia Callais: 376 votes, 19.3%
  • Bianca Virnig: 781 votes, 39.75%
