Revised FAQs for the August 2023 & 2024 payments to nursing facilities created

In early August, the Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) deposited funding appropriated by the 2023 legislature into nursing facility accounts. DHS has now issued three sets of frequently asked questions.
These FAQs are now combined and available here. Nursing facilities should review the FAQs to make sure their use of the funds matches the parameters established by the legislature.
Background
Nursing facilities will receive August 2023 & August 2024 payments based on the following:
- Amount equal to $225,000 plus an estimated $4,016 per nursing facility bed active on May 12, 2023
- Distributed in two equal payments on August 1, 2023, and August 1, 2024
- NOT to be offset during rate setting
Allowable uses include:
- Covering operating- or property-related long-term debt payments
- Closing lines of credit
- Debt restructuring
- Paying off covenants or avoiding receivership
- Rent payments in arrears
- Physical plant improvements
