LTC Risk Mitigation Series—AL building regulations
Focused on proactive risk mitigation in LTC, this series will help you learn practical strategies to identify and reduce risks, covering key areas like resident safety, regulatory compliance, and financial risks. Each session in the series will provide tools and insights to help LTC professionals manage challenges effectively and improve care quality.

MDH Engineering will talk about what engineering is seeing on the second round of surveys. Engineering will talk about the items they are seeing in surveys and give tips first for compliance and second for excellence. Engineering will go into depth about the requirements of smoke alarms and fire extinguishers and how to exceed these expectations.

Mr. Dehler is a professional engineer with over 26 years of engineering experience, including the last fifteen years at the Minnesota Department of Health. He has managed the engineering program for about the last nine years. As the manager of the engineering services section, he is responsible for the plan review and inspections of construction in healthcare facilities throughout the state of Minnesota. The section enforces licensure requirements of the State of Minnesota and federal certification requirements of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).
