Who we are: Care Providers of Minnesota is a non-profit membership association for providers of long-term care services and supports. Our mission is to lead our 1,000+ members from across Minnesota to excellence. We are the state affiliate for the American Health Care Association/National Center for Assisted Living, and with our national partners we help members succeed. We have a dynamic environment that leverages both virtual and in-person work. Each team member is valued for their diverse experiences and perspectives; we work together to use this expertise to assist members and advocate on their behalf. We have a proven track record of engagement with decision makers, state agencies, federal agencies and other stakeholders to ensure our member voices are heard. As the long-term care profession has evolved, so have we, but relationships are at the heart of what we do.


JOB REQUIREMENTS
What you will do: • Direct lobbying: contact legislators, their staff, and other government officials to communicate views and ask for support. • Analyzing legislation: monitoring and advocating for or against pending legislation, budget proposals, and administrative policies. • Developing relationships: build relationships with legislators and their staff. • Testifying: testifying for or against relevant legislation. • Responding to requests: responding to requests for information from public officials, agencies, and the media. • Writing: writing reports, fact sheets, news releases, blogs, and op-eds. • Representing: representing the organization with reporters. • Developing plans: developing campaign plans and tactics. What you bring to the team: • Five years’ of work experience in advocacy and legislation. • Bachelor's degree preferred. • Strong knowledge of rules and regulations applicable to skilled nursing facilities and ability to synthesize and relay information effectively. • Knowledge of or experience with long-term care issues. • Experience in legislative and government relations activities. • Skilled oral and written communications. • Organizational skills. • Ability to travel.
